NexHealth review

NexHealth is a front-office software platform for dental and medical practices that lets patients book online and fills cancellations from a waitlist, then sends reminders, forms and payment requests, all synced with the practice’s PMS. Subscription pricing is on request, and the vendor publishes its card fees: 2.6% plus $0.07 per in-office terminal payment and 2.9% plus $0.30 per text-to-pay payment (checked October 19, 2026).

Quick verdict

NexHealth suits a dental office that wants patients to book online from Google or its website, fill last-minute openings without phone calls, and have bookings, forms and payments land in the PMS on their own. Capterra reviewers praise the support, the ease of use and how well it works with their PMS. The catch is the review base: it’s small, and most of it is from 2019.

The recent reviews are more mixed. Most of the lower ratings in the sample were written from 2023 to 2025, and they mention slow setups, support that was hard to reach, price and a contract dispute. Before you sign, ask three things. Which NexHealth features fully sync with your exact PMS? Will NexHealth sign a business associate agreement (BAA)? And what will your quote be, given that the pricing page shows none?

NexHealth at a glance

What is NexHealth?

NexHealth is a set of front-office products for patient booking and communication, built on the NexHealth Synchronizer, which the vendor says reads and writes data to your PMS within 10 to 15 seconds for most integrations. NexHealth says more than 20,000 practices use it, and it sells to dental and medical offices alike.

The vendor’s home page lays out the patient’s path. A patient finds the office on Google Maps, invisalign.com, the practice website or social media and books a real opening. Then come reminders and confirmations, paperwork the patient finishes before arriving, and an insurance eligibility check ahead of the visit. After the visit, NexHealth says it calculates the balance, patients pay in the office or from home, and forms, appointments and balances write back to your practice management system.

The Synchronizer is NexHealth’s own connection to the PMS. NexHealth says it works without going through your PMS vendor, so you don’t need that company to “turn on” a connection, and that practices pay nothing for it. The products themselves can be bought together or one at a time; the vendor’s pages say you can “choose only the products you need”.

The Synchronizer list is long and mixes dental and medical systems. On the saved pages, every entry shows as “Supported”, including “Other” and “Internally made EHR”, while the same pages carry a message for systems without a dedicated sync. Treat the list as a starting point and confirm your exact PMS with NexHealth.

Key features

NexHealth’s main features are online booking, a waitlist, recalls, reminders and texting, digital forms, payments, insurance verification and analytics, as described on the vendor’s feature pages on October 19, 2026. Each can be bought on its own, and most depend on the Synchronizer for writing data back to the PMS:

  • Online booking: a “Book” button in Google search results through Reserve with Google, plus booking from your website, social media, text, email or QR codes. Availability can be set by provider, location and appointment type, and you can require a card or a deposit for chosen appointment types or for new patients.
  • Waitlist: pick an open time and NexHealth texts or emails waitlisted patients; the first to accept with one click gets the slot, and the others hear it’s gone. NexHealth says it can sync your ASAP and continuing care lists from the PMS, and you can add patients by hand.
  • 1-Click Recalls: recall messages with a booking link, sent by rule when patients are due. NexHealth says it reads the continuing care code and past appointment types in the patient’s file.
  • Communications: two-way texting and email from your office number, reminders by text, email or both, mass campaigns filtered by age, visit history and procedure type, Google review requests, and pre-built automations for missed and cancelled appointments. NexHealth says reminders skip patients who have already confirmed, cancelled or rescheduled, and that messages can go out in each patient’s preferred language.
  • Forms: a drag-and-drop builder with question logic, forms sent by appointment type, procedure code or new-patient status, and follow-ups for incomplete paperwork. Demographics, medical history, medications, allergies and conditions sync to the chart, with a PDF copy in the document center and alerts to staff about allergies, medications and conditions. The vendor says it converts your existing forms and includes an iPad for the waiting room.
  • Payments: a card terminal, text and email payment requests, digital statements, cards on file, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Affirm and newer payment plans. With Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental, NexHealth says each payment posts to the right patient, provider and procedure.
  • Insurance verification: on-demand eligibility checks and automatic checks up to a week before each visit. The vendor says it supports more than 1,200 carriers and saves eligibility summaries to the PMS.
  • Analytics: a dashboard NexHealth calls “Insights”, with production against collections, balances aged 30, 60 and 90 days, show rates for new and returning patients, lapsed patients and new-patient sources. NexHealth says data export is “Not yet” available.
  • Treatment Plans (new): the vendor says a recommended treatment becomes a plain-language summary sent by text and email, showing the cost after insurance and letting the patient pick a date.

NexHealth vs. what a front desk tool should have

NexHealth’s pages list three of the five must-haves on our front desk checklist outright: real-time online booking, PMS sync and reminders. Support is judged from reviews, where several praise it and two complain. Security information is partial, because the saved pages make HIPAA claims but don’t mention a BAA, and the vendor’s security help link redirected to the help center home page. The clearest gaps are a public subscription price and phone or call answering.

FDA status and privacy

NexHealth has no FDA listing under the vendor’s name: we searched the FDA’s 510(k) and PMA databases on October 19, 2026 and found none. NexHealth says patient data is encrypted at rest and describes its products as HIPAA compliant. The saved pages don’t say whether NexHealth signs a BAA.

Our FDA search went through openFDA’s 510(k) and PMA device databases, using NexHealth as the applicant name and, for 510(k), as the device name. NexHealth’s saved pages don’t mention the FDA.

On security, the pricing page lists “HIPAA compliance and security” in every package and says patient data “is encrypted at rest to protect sensitive PHI”. The Payments page calls the product “HIPAA and PCI-compliant by default”, and the forms page says NexHealth works “exclusively with healthcare providers”. Those are the vendor’s own claims. The saved pages name no SOC 2 report or other outside audit, and NexHealth’s security help link opened the help center’s home page, so we have no security document to cite. Ask NexHealth for its security documentation and a signed BAA before you connect patient data.

Pricing

NexHealth pricing is on request: the pricing page asks you to choose products and describe your practice to get a quote, and shows no subscription price (checked October 19, 2026). The fees NexHealth does publish are for card payments: 2.6% plus $0.07 per in-office terminal transaction and 2.9% plus $0.30 per text-to-pay transaction.

Every package includes the PMS integration, what NexHealth calls HIPAA compliance and security, and “white-glove support”, according to the pricing page. NexHealth says the Synchronizer itself costs practices nothing, with no setup fee or subscription. Custom plans are available, and you can add locations through your sales rep.

The contract terms are on the pricing page. You can pay month to month or yearly, with the full year paid up front. NexHealth says there are no cancellation fees: monthly customers give notice before the next full billing cycle, and annual customers give 90 days’ notice before renewal. NexHealth also offers to buy out your contract with your current vendor, “exclusions apply”.

Two reviews are worth reading next to those terms. One reviewer in August 2025 says NexHealth started out cheaper than RevenueWell but the price kept going up until it was unaffordable for a small office. Another, in June 2025, says NexHealth refused a refund and held their practice to a three-month contract after they found a missing function before onboarding began; the reviewer says they knew the contract term.

Pros (from user reviews)

Capterra reviewers praise NexHealth’s support, ease of use, PMS sync, online booking, reminders and payments. The sample is small, and most of it is from 2019, so much of this praise describes the product as it was then. About half the reviews have a dental context, and each theme below includes dental reviewers.

  • Several reviewers praise customer support as helpful and responsive, including dental reviewers and reviews from 2022 to 2025. One says that if NexHealth misses your call, it calls you back.
  • Several say it works well with their PMS. Dental reviewers name Eaglesoft, Dentrix and Curve Dental, and one dental office manager says forms sent automatically to new patients are written into Dentrix, which saves time and cuts human error.
  • Several call NexHealth easy to use or user-friendly.
  • Online booking gets praise from several reviewers, mostly in 2019. A dentist says patients can book at any time and from anywhere, so nobody has to answer the phones or read out open slots.
  • Several like texting patients, and several like the automated reminders and confirmations.
  • Online and text payments get praise from several reviewers, all writing in 2019.
  • NexHealth is customizable, according to a few reviewers. A few say the team acts on their feature requests, and a few say it saves staff time.
  • Digital forms get praise from a few recent reviewers, writing from 2023 to 2025: the forms go to the chart or document center on their own, or they’re easy to create.
  • A few say they gained patients or revenue, and two say they had fewer broken appointments or cancellations.

Cons (from user reviews)

NexHealth’s complaints on Capterra are fewer than the praise, but they come more from recent reviews. A few reviewers describe sync or integration problems, and a few describe setups that took longer than expected. Smaller themes, each from two reviewers, are reminders sent to cancelled appointments, support that was hard to reach, limits on partial payments and iPad problems.

  • Sync or integration problems come up in a few reviews: online booking times that didn’t match the schedule, a 45-minute resync with duplicate patient accounts, frequent iPad sync issues and lag after updates. A dental reviewer in November 2024 says NexHealth didn’t integrate as well with Curve Dental and that Curve showed no obvious sign of whether forms were complete.
  • Setup was slow or bumpy for a few. A dental CIO in September 2023 says setup took their solo office a month, and others mention bugs or hiccups at first, though they add that the team fixed them.
  • Two dental reviewers say reminders went out with the wrong time or reached patients whose appointments were cancelled or broken, and one says staff had to remove those patients by hand.
  • Support was hard to reach for two reviewers: one once they were an established customer, and one who says there were no support hours before an East Coast office opens.
  • Two would like patients to be able to make partial payments more easily. One says patients can’t make partial payments under $1,000.
  • Two describe iPad problems, and one says NexHealth changed the iPad workflow without notice. Two are also critical of the sales process: one calls it polished with poor follow-through, and the other says what they were told during sales and setup turned out to be wrong.
  • One reviewer says the price kept rising, and one describes a refused refund on a three-month contract.

Capterra marks about a third of the reviews as incentivized, and most give NexHealth 5 stars. Keep the sample size and the age of most reviews in mind when you weigh them.

Who it’s for

NexHealth fits a dental practice on Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental that wants online booking from Google and its website, a waitlist for last-minute openings, and forms and payments that post to the PMS without retyping. Offices on other systems should confirm what syncs, because NexHealth names only those three for payments ledger sync and the financial reports.

If you need phone service or call answering, the saved pages don’t list either, so you’d need a separate phone system. If you want a price before a sales call, you won’t find one on the pricing page. And if you run an East Coast office that needs help before opening, ask about support hours, since one reviewer says there were none. The small, mostly 2019 review sample is another reason to ask NexHealth for references from dental offices on your PMS.

FAQ

How much does NexHealth cost?

Pricing on request. NexHealth’s pricing page builds a quote from the products you choose and shows no subscription price (checked October 19, 2026). The published card fees are 2.6% plus $0.07 per in-office terminal transaction and 2.9% plus $0.30 per text-to-pay transaction.

Does NexHealth work with Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental?

Yes, according to NexHealth, which lists all three among the systems its Synchronizer connects to. They are also the three systems NexHealth names for payments that post to the ledger by provider and procedure, and for its production and collections reports. Capterra reviewers mention using it with Eaglesoft, Dentrix and Curve Dental, and one says the Curve integration was weaker.

Does NexHealth sign a BAA?

The saved NexHealth pages don’t say. NexHealth says patient data is encrypted at rest and describes its products as HIPAA compliant and its payments as HIPAA and PCI compliant. Ask for a signed BAA and the vendor’s security documentation before you connect patient data.

Can I cancel NexHealth, and is there a cancellation fee?

Yes, and NexHealth says there are no cancellation fees. Monthly customers give notice before the next full billing cycle, and annual customers give 90 days’ notice before renewal. One Capterra reviewer in June 2025 says NexHealth held them to a three-month contract and refused a refund, so read your agreement before you sign.

Does NexHealth answer phones or have an AI receptionist?

No, not on the pages we saved. NexHealth lists online booking, texting, email, reminders and a waitlist to cut down phone calls, but no phone system or call answering. One reviewer wishes NexHealth had partnered with a phone system.

Is NexHealth FDA cleared?

No FDA listing was found under NexHealth’s name in the FDA’s 510(k) and PMA databases, searched October 19, 2026. NexHealth’s products are front-office software for booking, messages, forms and payments, and the saved pages don’t mention the FDA.

How this review was put together

We didn’t use NexHealth ourselves. Our NexHealth review is built from ten NexHealth web pages (home, pricing, scheduling, waitlist, communications, forms, payments, insurance verification, Synchronizer and analytics), the NexHealth help center, a search of the FDA’s 510(k) and PMA databases, and all 31 of NexHealth’s Capterra reviews, written between January 8, 2019 and August 25, 2025. All sources were checked on October 19, 2026.

We searched the FDA databases through openFDA. We counted a review theme only when a review stated it, and we didn’t look for published studies. The front desk checklist is a first version, written from this vendor’s pages and reviews.
